Tourist arrivals in recent months of summer season also brings good news to Tenerife, related to the creation of new jobs. Throughout the month of September, the tourist companies and hotels in Tenerife closed a total of 6414 new contracts. This represents an increase of 612 contracts on the volume of new jobs created by tourism of Tenerife during the month of September last year 2010. In all the seven Canary Islands, Tenerife captured 39 percent in the creation of new jobs within this sector of economic activity as crucial to the Archipelago.
Overall, the tourism sector recorded in Tenerife and the Canary Islands, on the whole, a reduction of unemployment estimated at 5.2 percent, according to data released by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife.
